Christmas Floral Display Inspiration For Corporate Parties
It’s November and the first Christmas corporate events are appearing on the calendar. If you are looking for a way to put the finishing touches to your office Christmas party or other corporate event, then an events florist could provide you with the answers you are searching for. Here are a few suggestions to add some festive floral charm to the occasion.
The Christmas garland
Garlands are ideal for dressing long tables, windowsills, entrances, or mantlepieces. Classic evergreens combined with contemporary succulents are a popular choice. Add gold accents and white roses for a beautiful and eye-catching display. On tables and mantles, pair the garland with elegant tapered candles for the perfect finishing touch.
Festive roses centrepiece
Ruby red roses don’t need to be reserved just for Valentine’s Day: they are perfect for Christmas displays. Opt for a table centrepiece or sideboard decoration with red roses, pine foliage and rich coloured berries tied with a silver ribbon for an attractive and eye-catching seasonal bouquet.
Poinsettia baskets
Poinsettias are the classic Christmas flower with radiant red leaves and star shaped flowers. These plants are native to Mexico, and they have ancient cultural associations with the Christmas season.
According to legend, a young girl named Pepita was upset that she had no worthy gift to offer the baby Jesus. Her cousin told her that Jesus would appreciate any gift however small, so Pepita picked some weeds on the way to the church and left them by the nativity scene.
The weeds magically transformed into a bunch of beautiful red poinsettias, and they became known as “Flores de Noche Buena,” or “Flowers of the Holy Night.” The plant became associated with generosity, giving and goodwill, and so it is a natural choice for the festive season.
The name poinsettia is derived from the American ambassador to Mexico, Joel Roberts Poinsett, who first brought them to the US in the beginning of the 19th century. However, the trend for decorating our homes with these colourful plants was probably down to an American marketer, who adopted the strategy of sending free poinsettia plants to prominent American TV studios in the hope of free product placement on prime time TV. The ploy seems to have worked, and poinsettia plants are now a staple Christmas decoration across the world.
There’s also a lesser known white variety that looks charming when combined with the vibrant red plant in a wicker basket for centrepieces or welcoming entrance displays. The plants are also easy to look after, and a good quality specimen will last for several months with a little TLC.
The Christmas wreath
No festive occasion would be properly dressed without the addition of a few wreaths. Traditional Christmas foliage such as holly, ivy, berries, pine cones and dried silver leaves never fail to make the right impact.
